By Sally Bruggeman, President of League of Women Voters of Eastern Carver County, as published in the LWVECC's April newsletter.

As we approach the last general membership meeting (besides the annual meeting on May 19), I look back on the 2008-09 League year with pride on what our League of 33 members has accomplished this year.  THANK YOU, members, for stepping up and doing your part to make this happen.   I recently completed an application for the Spirit of Democracy Award to gain recognition of our outstanding work at the state level.  During the past year LWVECC achieved 40 goals in the following categories: Action/Action, Communications/Public Relations, Development/Finance, Leadership, Membership, Program/Program, Voter Service and a General Potpourri of Necessities.  Unfortunately, I could not substantiate involvement in the LWMN 2007-08 Study: Update on Judicial Selection nor in the Leaders of Today and Tomorrow program.

There are three levels of the award, which will be given at the State Convention on May 15-16 in Willmar.  Which level will LWVECC receive?
